If you recover from appendectomy, removal of an inflamed or infected appendix, follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Most people recover quickly and calmly, but there are some things to be noted. Check your incision regularly to see if there are any signs of infection. Your incision looks pink, puffy and tender. It's normal. However, attention should be paid to the drainage of the incision and whether there is bright red or excessive swelling around the incision. These may be signs of infection.
